How to easily prepare and Cook asparagus

Asparagus is a nutrient-rich vegetable. The spring crop is high in vitamins B6, C, E and k. It also contains high levels of magnesium, zinc and calcium, to say nothing of other nutrients such as protein, phosphorus, thiamine, iron, potassium, and dietary fiber. Asparagus also contains special amino acid compound called Asparagine.

This vegetable is particularly recommended for people with weight problems because it is low in calories and sodium. It is often used as a side dish or appetizer. Instead of cooking it, some people prefer to eat it raw as part of their salad. If you are not sure how to cook asparagus, you can follow the tips below:

1. buy fresh asparagus with round tips, straight and thin stems and a deep green color. If you are in Germany, instead of the Green that you can find the usually white asparagus (commonly known as spargel). This type of asparagus is sweeter, tenderer than the usual green variety. In order to prepare the white asparagus, you need to scale it before consuming.

2. the bottom part of the plant are covered in sand and dirt. Make sure that you wash it well with cold water before they are used in your dish. Asparagus cooked best after more than two days are kept in the refrigerator. Long periods of storage will modify signature taste of vegetable.

3. prior to turn asparagus into a real dish, recommended you steam or boil it first. Otherwise, the inside of the stems is still that raw even after you cook them, Only young asparagus with tender textures should be steamed. Boiling asparagus require special but easy trick. Place the bottom part of the tribes in a pot of boiling water. Keep the tips of the water. Steam from the boiling water will soften the tips. After about 8 minutes or until the tips are soft enough to remove the plant from the pot. By tying 10 to 12 tribes in bundles, you can easily remove them from the water at the same time. Asparagus tastes best when it is tender yet clear.

4. you can cook later asparagus in many ways. You can stir-fry the serve with bacon, beef, shrimp or chicken. You can also grill on the barbecue grill them short or in an oven. In Germany are served often white asparagus with Hollandaise sauce and potatoes.

If you prefer in French style, you may want to add the olive oil, Parmesan cheese, melted butter or mayonnaise to your steamed or boiled asparagus. Serve asparagus when it is still warm to maintain the taste.
