Go back to basics with cooking can be fun

When was the last time you prepared with anyone? Perhaps as a kid you helped your mother or grandmother in the kitchen or perhaps have you ever tried cooking with anyone.

While cooking together may have been a normal activity to do years ago, sometime between fast food restaurants and busy schedules it has fallen on the waist side. However, with the onslaught of new cooking and food displays shows up, it seems to me cooking is to get positive exposure of something fun to do with friends and family. There are also cooking parties to both men and women can participate in and enjoy preparing and eating a meal together and guess what ... it's fun!

A good cooking with others is that it may take some time because we all have to eat. By creating an evening or day for cooking together, you can create wonderful memories and new connections. Children can get involved too! Make it a family activity and cover all.

The time has come in our society that we have to go back to basics and present ourselves for our kitchen again. Our health depends on it. Eating processed food all the time, has proven to be not so good for our bodies, so say hello to your kitchen and start cooking some real food.

A bonus to cooking with others is that it is more fun and less overwhelming with the help of others. Cooking together can be a unique bonding experience. Invite friends over and cook in the kitchen.

You know not what to cook?

• Create a theme from around the world. Do dishes from a different country. Try an Italian or Greek theme. Brainstorm.
• Choose a cookbook and have all choose a recipe from this cookbook.
• Select a type of food. Try the Vegetarian, vegan or Macrobiotic.
• Select an ingredient that everyone has to use in the dish they want to do.
• Have all share their favorite recipes and put them in a hat and pick three.

Tips for cooking with friends or family:

1. Let each person pick a part of the meal to be responsible for preparing or cooking.
2. If you have a lot of people then partner them.
3. any person who is responsible for helping the ingredients of the recipes that they want to do.
4. you do not need a gourmet kitchen-go with what you have.
5. turn on some music and get cooking together.
6. Get to sit down to a home cooked meal with friends or family.
7. make it a memorable time!
