Cooking perfect Japanese rice without a rice cooker

Japanese rice is great! I eat it with everything these days, even things that you would not expect to go with it. It is truly versatile and has replaced bread and potatoes for me as my artificial staple fibres carbohydrates.

That is delicious, contrary to popular belief, it is also really easy to cook perfectly! You don't need a fancy rice cooker that excellent Japanese rice (though they are great for keeping your rice warm so you can eat it later).

Here is how I fix Japanese rice in the absence of a rice cooker. It takes about 5 minutes of preparation and 25 minutes to cook.

1. Standard measurement of rice is of Cup. Japanese rice cups hold 180 ml, which is approximately the size of a small Mug. A Cup will earn a person, so measure your parts accordingly. Place as many cups of rice as you need in an ordinary saucepan.

2. Next, you need to wash the rice. Pour in some water and shake and scrunch rice with his hands. The water is fast a milky white. When this happens, pour water in the sink, is careful not to all the rice. I do so usually by deposit in saucepan and use my hand as a barrier of sorts. You do not need to get rid of all the water, only a reasonable amount.

Rinse the rice once or twice. The water will never be perfectly clear, so don't worry about perfection. Make sure you have drained as much water as possible, otherwise the surplus will significantly add to the amount that we measure to Cook rice with.

4. Once your rice has been washed, take in the same cup used to measure parts and add the same amount of water in rice (2 cups water 2 cups rice). Then I usually a bit more-approximately 1/4 of a cup for 2 cups of rice, or 1/3 for 3 cups.

If you Pour water in saucepan along the inside, you'll catch any stray bits of rice can braces itself fixed. Every grain is important!

5. place your saucepan on the stove in the fireplace on your smallest and put a lid on it. Enter the flame to the lowest level and leave it in 25 minutes.

It is really as easy as that! In 25 minutes, you can enjoy delicious, fluffy, sticky Japanese rice, almost all rice cookers, gives you!

A comment on storage: keeps for up to one year and also if you notice that it begins to Crystallize, it is still useful.

Corn syrup

Maize is derived from corn. It is not as flavorfull as syrups, and it is a little thinner but (especially in the United States) can be used just like syrup.

It is commonly used over pancakes instead of the expensive maple syrup.

Maple Syrup

Maple syrup comes from certain Maple tree sap, especially in Canada, and it reduces by boiling until it becomes a pale, thin syrup.

The process is quite involved and pure maple syrup can be quite expensive. For those who have tasted it, however, do nothing else! Especially on pancakes.

You can get cheaper varieties contain less percentage of pure maple syrup. It's always good to check on the label. If it seems cheap, it is probably not 100% maple syrup.

Apart from using it on waffles and pancakes, some want to Pour it over ice cream or sponge puddings.

Molasses

Molasses is heavy, thick and dark, rich in iron and vitamins and therefore very good for you! It is a natural syrup from sugar cane juice.

Molasses has a natural acidity and of the reasons some recommend with bicarbonate of soda (half a Teaspoon to 8 oz molasses) in order to counteract the acidity.

It can be used in fruit cakes, and it is especially good in the gingerbreads.

You can save it for about a year and it is generally easy to find in most supermarkets.
